INTRODUCTION

Come join our ‘ohana! Maui Brewing Company (MBC) is launching a restaurant division, with our newest location at Waikiki, on the island of Oahu, Hawaii. We're looking for the right restaurant professional with experience working in high volume restaurants to join our Waikiki restaurant as a Bartender.

MBC Restaurants are a direct extension of the values and practices we employ in brewing our handcrafted ales and lagers. We are passionate about the craft beer way of life, using local ingredients and sustainability. We're building a solid team that will share these passions and execute them operationally.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Provide the highest level of quality and service to our guests by being responsible for all preparation, interaction and steps of service needed to exceed guest expectations in the restaurant and bar.

POSITION SUMMARY

Provide the highest level of service when preparing beverages for guests.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

•      Assist in preparing bar for service by setting up bar and bar area, including preparing items such as linens, silverware, and glassware, stocking liquors, preparing garnishes, and preparing drink mixers.

•      Greet all guests and co-workers in a warm, personal, friendly manner.

•      Knowledgeable in the beer making process and able to identify all styles, characteristics and elements of a beer.

•      Describe and pair beer, wine, and cocktails with food menu items.

•      Review drink menus and specials with guests seated at the bar and make recommendations.

•      Offer food menus to guests seated at the bar and answer questions about menu items, offering descriptions and making recommendations. Inform guests of daily specials including pricing if not listed on the menu. Explain how various menu items are prepared, describing ingredients and cooking methods.

•      Follow company protocol and inform manager on duty for all noted guest allergies.

•      Take guests' food and beverage orders and enter orders into computers for transmittal to kitchen staff.

•      Check guests' identification to ensure that they meet minimum age requirements for consumption of alcoholic beverages.

•      Prepare, garnish, and serve drinks for guests seated at bar in an efficient manner.

•      Prepare and garnish drinks for guests seated at restaurant tables in an efficient manner.

•      Check with guests to ensure that they are enjoying their food and drink items, and take action to correct any problems.

•      Remove dishes and glasses from bar and take them to kitchen for cleaning.

•      Prepare and present guests' checks according to policy, ensuring any special requests are followed (such as split checks), and collect corresponding payments.

•      Polish and restock all glassware as needed.

•      Restock all bar items including wine, beer, condiments, etc.

•      Clean entire bar area including bar top, glass washer, etc.

•      Stock ice.

•      Take garbage and recycling to appropriate destination.

•      Monitor guests’ physical condition when entering the restaurant and bar; monitor alcohol consumption while on the premises to ensure all MBC and county serving policies are followed. Take appropriate steps according to MBC policy to reduce the occurrence of alcohol-related issues.

•      Must be dependable, report to work as scheduled and on time, and follow all policies regarding scheduling and attendance.

•      Work in a safe manner and report any safety concerns; personal, employee or guest injury.

•      Follow food safety program guidelines of handwashing, bare hands, hygiene and health.

•       A one-time TB clearance must be obtained prior to starting work.

Experience: Minimum 1 year of related experience.  

Computer Skills: Experience with Point of Sale System.

Other: Job offer contingent upon successful completion of background screening.

Must be at least 21 years of age.

Must pass test with Liquor Department and obtain liquor card.

Must take and pass all training tests 90%.

Read and comprehend MBC department Playbooks.
